Building the
place “Where Girls Grow” is the motto for the new Pacific Peaks
Council Girl Scout Center in DuPont. The 21,650 sq. ft. facility is
the home to Girl Scouts for Southwestern Washington and reflects the
Council’s commitment to serve every girl who wants to be a Girl
Scout. The $2.6 million facility was completed on a 10-month construction
calendar and included development of the 5.19 acre wooded site. The
site boasts ample parking. Korsmo Construction and its
subcontractors also donated $75,000 of in-kind work. The two-story
building features an administrative wing, a great hall, meeting
rooms, a resource computer lab and a retail store. Adopting a
Northwest flavor, the architecture includes exposed beams and a
window wall in the great room, peeler poles at the main entrance,
interior stained concrete floors and a wood bridge connecting the
building to the trail system and campfire area.
