John grew up
working in the family business. He worked in the field as a laborer and
carpenter and did estimating and project management while completing a
Bachelor of Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran University.
In 1988, he succeeded his father as company
president. Since that time, the company has grown from less than $1
million in new construction annually to nearly $70 million annually.
Today, the company routinely builds single projects that are larger than
the entire company was just 10 years ago.
Despite the rapid growth, John strives to
keep the company close to its family-value roots. Known for its
attention to quality and integrity, John has vowed to never sacrifice
those values for the sake of financial growth.
With many employees working at John Korsmo
Construction for 10 years or more, he is proud of the high caliber
workplace that attracts and retains quality people.
In addition to serving as company
president, John is a member of the Associated General Contractors (AGC)
Safety Team; is past president of AGC of Washington Southern District;
is a member of the City of Lakewood Redevelopment Board; and is chairman
of the Carpenter's Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee. |
